OSCE Checklists Book

The Geeky Medics OSCE Checklists Book contains 130 checklists covering essential clinical examinations, procedures, and communication skills topics. It's designed to be used alongside your clinical practice sessions as a quick reference for each clinical skill.

Queen's Square reflex hammer

A 32cm Queen's Square reflex hammer for testing tendon reflexes when performing a neurological examination. This is the style of hammer most commonly used in UK clinical practice and the one you'll encounter in most OSCE stations.

Tuning forks (512Hz and 128Hz)

Two tuning forks are included: a 512Hz Gardiner Brown tuning fork for hearing tests (Rinne and Weber) and a 128Hz tuning fork for vibration sense testing in neurological examinations.

Pen torch

A reusable pen torch with 2x AAA batteries for testing pupil reflexes and examining the oral cavity. Compact enough to keep in a pocket during clinical placements.

Fob watch

A black fob watch for timing respiratory rate, pulse and other clinical observations. Fob watches are preferred in clinical settings because wrist watches can harbour bacteria and are often not permitted.

Neurotips and cotton wool

The kit also includes 5 disposable neurotips for pin-prick sensation testing and a pack of 5 cotton wool balls for light-touch sensation testing during a neurological examination.

Measuring tape

A flexible measuring tape for limb circumference measurements and other clinical measurements (e.g. leg length, SFH).

Who is it for?

The OSCE Essentials Kit is designed for medical students at any stage of clinical training. It's particularly useful if you're approaching summative OSCEs and want your own set of equipment to practise with outside of timetabled skills sessions.

The kit is also suitable for other healthcare students preparing for practical clinical assessments.
